History Behind The Hyderabadhi Biryani
Whenever there's a mention of the Hyderabadi cuisine or Hyderabad itself for that matter, the first thing that comes to one's mind naturally is the legendary Hyderabadi Biryani. As Biryani is arguably the most raucously popular Hyderabadi dish there ever is.The name derives from the Persian word "Birian" which means 'fried before cooking'.The legend has it that,Mumthaz begum, shah jahan's queen, once visited the Indian army barracks and found the soldiers were extremely undernourished. She requested the skilled chefs the Mughal empire to prepare the special dish which provided a balanced nutrition, and thus this classic dish was born.
With passing times, this version evolved to meet the tastes of different regions of India as every state of India has its own unique style of cooking this royal dish.
